“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters...

Recently we have updated our birthday wishes section on HoopoeQuotes, and a war almost broke out between me and... well, the rest of The Hoopoes. OK, so maybe I was pressing them a bit too much, but I really wanted to have some birthday wishes with images from my favorite shows. They didn't comply, so I've decided to find a writing space of my own.
I was always a fan of many many shows, but two of them really stand out when birthday wishes are in focus. First one is Seinfeld. I really love Jerry and the rest of the crew. The following quote is taken from a funny Seinfeld scene.
“Well, birthdays are merely symbolic of how another year has gone by and how little we’ve grown. No matter how desperate we are that someday a better self will emerge, with each flicker of the candles on the cake, we know it’s not to be, that for the rest of our sad, wretched pathetic lives, this is who we are to the bitter end. Inevitably, irrevocably; happy birthday? No such thing.”
The quote was featured in the season 4, episode 15, and it's broadcast date was on January 27, 1993. You can find the full script at http://www.seinology.com/scripts/script-55.shtml For those not familiar with the show, Jerry Seinfeld is American television actor and comedian, b.1954. Check out his Wiki page.
Another one of my favorite shows is Big Bang Theory. It is one of my favourite comedies which I have watched too many times. I have two favorite birthday quotes from the show to share with you:
1. [Penny is trying to convince Sheldon to buy Leonard a gift] Howard Wolowitz: Try telling him it’s a non-optional social convention. Penny: What? Howard Wolowitz: Just do it. Penny: It’s – it’s a non-optional social convention. Sheldon Cooper: Ah, fair enough. Howard Wolowitz: He came with a manual. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1127907/quotes?qt=qt0419289 2. Sheldon Cooper: The entire institution of gift giving makes no sense. Let’s say that I go out, and I spend 50 dollars on you, it’s a laborious activity, because I have to imagine what you need, where as you know what you need. Now I could simplify things, just give you the 50 dollars directly, and you could give me 50 dollars on my birthday, and so on, until one of us dies, leaving the other one old and 50 dollars richer. And I ask, is it worth it? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1127907/quotes?qt=qt1583691 Sheldon is my favorite character. I know some OCD persons in real life, and their similarity in some personal traits is remarkable. I mean, for example, I LOVE parties, I love to attend them, I love to organize them for my friends (though rarely), but my friend Maya is reeeeealy giving herself into it. If you are that kind of person, you might check her birthday planning checklist. I don't do those lists, I prefer just getting a drink and a good TV Show for birthday. If you liked my take on birthday wishes, please let the other hoopoes know you like it, so they would let me write a bit more about movie and TV show quotes on the site. |
